Description:
An elegant wedding party with two flower girls, pose outside the wedding venue in this Poole image. The two flower girls are dressed similarly, but the scarves under their chins inspired the title above. Who were they? Will we be able to identify the family, as we have done many times in the past with such Poole images?
+++ UPDATE +++
Thank you so much to
Bernard Healy, who apparently was suffering from writers’ block in his day job today. We got the benefit of his leisure anyway, as he helped us do one of the things we love most – identify people!
Bernard definitely identified the bride and groom (Marguerite Downey of Newtown, Waterford and Reginald Courtney Myers from Balham, London), and fairly securely identified the two ‘toothachey’ girls (Elizabeth Downey and Kathleen M. Hand). It was a joy to watch this follier upper, as more and more pieces of information came in.
Then
O Mac leapt in with our next favourite thing –
he identified the location of the photo by window sills, downpipe, and reveal details – as Kilfiera, Newtown Villas, Newtown Road.
Honourable mention goes to
An Poc Ar Buile for the great newspaper snippets!
You’re all brilliant. Thank you. You make an old library very happy!
