Every weekday morning, I head out into the woods of a local nature preserve to hike, or run depending on the weather, my mood, and how much time I have.
Throughout the early spring, I saw the newborn fawns grow from tiny little beings, to independent and young adults. As the weeks continued on, I would see less and less of this fawn’s mother. And as of a couple weeks ago, I haven’t seen it’s mother at all.
She continues along her normal morning route though, everyday, seemingly unaware that anything has changed. Feeling alone undoubtedly, but carrying on, as that is what she was put on this earth to do.
She would scurry when I came walking through just a couple of months ago. Now, she welcomes me, and then goes about her business as if I’m not even there.
I hope to continue to always see her, and to one day see her with a family of her own.
