Located within New Mexico's Chaco Canyon, Fajada Butte rises some 442 feet above the canyon floor. It is host to several petroglyphs, most notable being the Sun Dagger which marked the solar solstice and equinox.
This evening was the capstone to fascinating days spent exploring and learning about the Chacoan culture and especially the archeoastronomical significance of the structures and their alignment.
This is the result of 3 bracketed exposures since I was losing light in the foreground; doing so meshed the most with my memory of this incredible place.
