I have photographed eight Africa Days here in Dublin. For some unknown reason I missed one.
With one exception the weather has aways been excellent … today it was amazing.
This year I took a huge gamble in that I depended on one camera/lens combination [OK I did have a NEX-7 with a Batis 25mm lens as a backup but there was no need to use it] and all the equipment is new since Christmas. Because the light was so good I used a fast shutter speed and that did present some problems but overall things went well.
The Sony 28-135mm lens attracted a lot of attention as most people had never anything like it before. I must admit that I was amazed to see so many people using huge Canon lenses and so many carrying more than one large camera/lens combination.
The event itself was really good and the live acts were top class.
