The Ava is a small apartment building at 9 East 10th Street. It was built in 1888 of brick with carved teak trim, presumably from the Indian factory of Lakewood de Forest, a prominent decorator, who built the even-more-elaborately teak-decorated townhouse next door (No. 7) the year before.
